ESD Pesticide Safety Training and Continuing Education
The Environmental Services Division offers Worker Protection Standard Pesticide Safety Trainer courses as well as Continuing Education courses for ESD licensees.

ESD TRAINING PROGRAM

The Environmental Services Division's Training Program is a partnership between the Arizona Department of Agriculture and the Yuma Area Agricultural Council, Inc., a non-profit organization. This partnership allows us to bring you the most updated training and training materials at a minimal cost or no cost at all (in some cases).

Pesticide Safety Trainer Course (Full Course):
​
Attendees who successfully complete this 8 hour Pesticide Trainer Course will receive a trainer certificate (license) for 3 years, to provide pesticide safety training in Arizona to agricultural workers and to handlers of pesticides, as required by AAC R3-3-1003. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has officially approved this AZDA Pesticide Safety Trainer Course for trainers of agricultural workers and pesticide handlers in accordance with the 2015 WPS expanded training content (40 CFR 170). (EPA APPROVAL: TTT W/H 0027). The cost of this course is $35.

How to renew:
​
To renew your trainer license you must attend a Pesticide Safety Trainer Refresher Course before it expires or no more than 3 months following expiration. These courses are approximately 4 hours long. The cost of this course is $25.
​
ESD license holders such as applicators and PCA's, will receive 6 continuing education units (6 AZ/CEU's) for attending the full course and 3 continuing education units (3 AZ/CEU's) for attending the refresher course.

Pesticide Safety Trainer Course (Worker Only):
​
Attendees who successfully complete the Pesticide Safety Trainer Course For Workers will receive a trainer certificate (license) for 3 years, to provide pesticide safety training in Arizona to persons who work where pesticides were applied (NOT FOR TRAINING HANDLERS), as required by AAC R3-3-1003. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has officially approved this AZDA Pesticide Safety Trainer Course for trainers of agricultural workers in accordance with the 2015 WPS expanded training content (40 CFR 170). (EPA APPROVAL: TTT W0005). The cost of this course is $25.

A course handbook and other training aids, including the AZDA/EPA approved training video, will be provided and are included with the registration fee. (EPA W/H PST0016)

Continuing Education Training Sessions (CETS):
​
ESD's Training Program will soon offer CETS which can be from 1-3 hours, which is the number of CEU's they will yield. Locations will vary throughout the state. Topics will cover both pesticide use and worker safety issues with topics such as, "State regulations regarding Ag use pesticides", "Everything you need to know about respirators", "Buffer Zone: What know about them", "How to care for reusable PPE", "Preventing cross-contamination from application equipment".
